ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Henry Rider Haggard (1856-1925), a celebrated English writer is famous for his adventure novels set in exotic locales, especially Africa, and is a pioneer of the lost world genre. His literary contributions offer a lighter side of Victorian literature and continue to influence readers. Despite modest education, he worked as a government official in South Africa and fell in love but couldn't marry due to financial constraints. Upon returning to England, he pursued a law career but soon transitioned to writing. Haggard's adventure tales, such as "King Solomon's Mines" and "She," are enduring classics with a unique portrayal of native populations. In later life, he vehemently opposed Bolshevism and shared a close friendship with Rudyard Kipling.
